Google has teamed up with Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin to release an advert for its home products that recreates some of the film’s most iconic scenes. As if there wasn’t enough viral content over the past few weeks, Google has entered the fray late with its ode to the Christmas classic, 28 years after the film’s original release.

In the advert, Culkin’s reprises his best-known role as Kevin McCallister, looking healthy and sprightly sees him adopt the same routine: jumping on the bed, taking a shower, and making some dinner before foiling a good old fashioned robbery. The difference is, Google Assistant is there to give him a hand.

‘Hey Google, what’s on my calendar today?‘ Culkin asks. Google Assistant replies: ‘you have one event called, ‘House to yourself.’‘ The set of nostalgic scenes continues, re-imagining the classic ‘keep the change, ya filthy animal’ pizza delivery, to ‘operation Kevin’ with mannequins in the living room’. Everything from the house exterior to the wallpaper is spot on.

This time around however, the cardboard cutout isn’t of Michael Jordan but Kevin Durant and it moves with the help of a Roomba, not an electric toy train.
