Craft beer firm BrewDog is opening the world’s first craft ale hotel, complete with beer taps in each room. The DogHouse, with 26-bedrooms will also have built-in shower fridges so guests can swig as they bathe.

They will be able to watch the stuff being made at the firm’s brewery next door offering guests the “ultimate immersive beer experience”.

The DogHouse will open next year in Scotland, alongside a new brewhouse and additional canning and packaging facility at the site in Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

BrewDog co-founder James Watt said: “It’s our gift to craft beer fans making the pilgrimage to our brewery. A beer hotel’s always been high on our agenda.

“Now we can realise that dream. It will be the ultimate for fans seeking hops with holidays — a beer nirvana.”

James Watt and Martin Dickie founded BrewDog in 2007 and its Punk IPA is the biggest selling craft beer in the UK. The business, which also has 47 bars, was valued at more than £1 billion last year after selling a 22 per cent stake for £213 million to an American private equity group.

BrewDog insist that it will ensure room beer taps are not “abused” once it opens. Booze will be mainly its own ales but, it will also offer rival beers. There are plans in place for a US hotel later next year.
