Renowned Japanese architect Hiroshi Sambuichi has placed an ambitious installation within a former underground water reservoir in Copenhagen. Titled ‘The Water’, Sambuichi has entirely transformed Cisternerne or The Cisterns deep under the beautiful Søndermarken park in Frederiksberg, with vegetation and natural light.

The space has been transformed into a subterranean landscape, which forms Sambuichi’s first exhibition outside of Japan. ‘The Water’, conceived as ‘a journey through an underground sea of light and darkness’ is distinctive to his traditional approach – working where natural elements meet the surrounding space and his architectural creative skills.
