Outside of Osaka, Japan lies the derelict Nara Dreamland, a theme park that has been effectively abandoned since the summer of 2006. Built in 1961, the park was heavily inspired by Anaheim, California’s Disneyland resort, complete with a Sleeping Beauty-style castle, Main Street, a Matterhorn-style roller coaster ride, right down to its very own tea cup ride.

However, as history shows, Nara Dreamland was not alluring enough as a resort destination to survive until its 50th birthday, and many credit Tokyo Disney with the park’s closing. Since then, the park has remained abandoned, only frequented by urban explorers seeking to experience the sprawling, deserted park for themselves.
