At the third attempt and with over 21 years of trying, a small and picturesque fishing village in the Chinese city of Quanzhou saw artist Cai Guo-Qiang create a stunning and illuminating piece of firework art 500 metres in the air, entitled Sky Ladder. Sky Ladder, performed in Guo-Qiang’s hometown, was offered as a gift for the artist’s 100-year old grandmother, his parents, family, and the town itself.
