With sustainability and CSR high on every major company’s activity list, drinks giant Coca-Cola, is using art to promote recycling of the billions of bottles and cans they sell each year. The Cola-Bow is an art installation at Beijing University, China, by the Austrian-based design house Penda to highlight the current state of plastic pollution with a direct aim to encourage recycling.

The installation was made out of more than 17,000 recycled plastic bottles, braided to create a shape inspired by the swings of the Coca-Cola logo for the Beijing University Creation Expo, which turns into the Beijing Design Week. All the bottles used were collected by a joint initiative of universities around Beijing and Coca-Cola China, that saw a bottle of Coke given to those that handed in 10 empty ones.
