Giant Rubber Duck On River Thames

Today in London a giant 50ft-tall rubber duck was released up the River Thames to publicise a gambling site’s effort to give back some of their winnings into the community to provide a smile in these bleak economic times. Jackpotjoy.com‘s stunt saw former Carry On star Barbara Windsor, the patron for the FUNdation initiative, take some time off from her panto duties and launch the quacking vessel into the wild from West India Dock in East London. It was an interesting take on our favourite large-scale artist Florentijn Hoffman who created a global series, The Rubber Duck, with a very similar premise.

Pure plagiarism of Hofman’s work – how do they get away with this ?
I know, it is identical and complete rip-off – but if you don’t know of his project you’d think ahhh great idea – think that is what most people in London at least thought! Shocking though…
