Haim – Forever

Haim an LA-based quartet – three sisters and drumming friend Dash Hutton – who received rapturous reviews at SXSW this year have released EP ‘Forever’, with the title track a true beauty. Lot of talk at the Austin, Texas event was of the band’s mixing of endless genres, but Forever is full of energy indie pop at its very best mixing percussion and stunning vocal harmonies in a Drive meets Fleetwood Mac vibe.

Haim are Danielle Haim ( vocals, lead guitar), Alana Haim (vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, percussion), Este Haim (vocals, bass) and Dash Hutton (drums). The video (above) directed by Austin Peters sees old footage of the sisters as kids on holiday inter-cut with them riding on their bikes while guys do wheelies on motorcycles. The video is something of a lovechild of Lana Del Rey and Drive, with a heady mix of 90s cool and some RnB girl band dance moves.

Haim’s The Forever EP is out now on National Anthem Records.

  1. [...] HAIM, the most hyped three-strong girl band since Destiny’s Child or TLC, are back with arguably their most pop song to date, Falling. From being showcased on Culture and Life what feels like an eternity ago, Danielle, Alana and Este Haim have had the music press drooling over their indie, RnB electr0-fused pop. Falling doesn’t disappoint in its pure HAIMness, despite showing a more commercial side – one of the expected results of being signed to a major – it leaves you panting, gasping for air and longing for the highly-anticipated album to be released. 2. [...] HAIM, the sassy white indie version of TLC or SWV have released the video for latest track Falling. The brilliant video is directed by Tabitha Denholm, one half of the super talented Queens of Noize DJ duo who have now gone on to greatness. It seems so long ago that Mairead Nash – now founder of Luv Luv Luv records, the stable that brought Florence & The Machine to the world – were DJing at parties with me and we were planning the first ever O2 Wireless Festival After Party. Tabitha has since done countless videos, including many for Florence. Her dreamy, instagram-esque haze over this leads to one of the best videos I’ve seen a long while. Great track, stunning video – winning combination! [...]
