Inside the New York Times ‘Lively Morgue’

As today’s media has turned more and more focused on digital content, it is good to hark back to the good old days of ink all over your fingers and treating a print newspaper with the respect it deserved, unless you are reading the Daily Star, of course. Print archives that were once the heart of many newspapers have gone the way of the floppy disk and then CD and now just on hard drive and USB sticks. However at the biggest paper in the States, the New York Times, home to the Lively Morgue tumblr, the technology that has threatened to kill the morgue may also save it.

As we are surrounded by 24 hour news, it is great to see that the mix of old and new can help to preserve the news of years gone by for another generation, although I will never lose my love for the print.
