The debut feature, ‘Gimme the Loot’ from New York filmmaker and director Adam Leon, saw its world premiere at the SXSW Festival to a rousing reception from the watching gallery. With a miniscule budget, the film showed what brilliant talent was harboured on the streets on New York. Produced by Dominic Buchanan, Natalie Difford and Jamund Washington, the rough around the edges urban comedy adventure is independent cinema in all its glory. The delightful short feature centres around young New York graffiti artists, looking at the lives and emotional tales behind the spray can and the outward persona needed to be ‘tough’ in the Bronx.

The lead roles of Malcolm (Tysheeb Hickson) and Sofia (Tashiana R. Washington) sees the teenage stars run from rooftop to away from rival gangs and a whole lot more. It is charming and reminds you of how all great film makers start… it is one that will undoubtedly catch the eye of indie movie buffs. There is even the chance to be part of that ride and invest in helping the movie push on, sounds like a good bet in my opinion.

Go ahead and back Gimme The Loot here.
