At 16-years-old Katya Rahlwes decided to leave her native Germany and camp in London, before ending up making the short hop over the English Channel to study fashion design in Paris. It was a stylist that she met the Purple’s uber-influential Oliver Zahm, it was not long before Rahlwes was then shooting some of the magazine’s most famous editorial imagery.

Somewhere inbetween London and Purple, Rahlwes became Chief Fashion Editor at BIBA in Paris, so to say she has worked with some of the most amazing people in fashion is by no means an understatement. Rahlwes is now based in New York and still taking pictures of the beautiful and the damned.
