One To Watch: Beatrice Eli
Beatrice Eli is the latest Swedish import to plant her musical feet in London and following rave reviews in her native Stockholm, Eli is sure to emulate the successful pop footsteps of Lykke Li and Robyn. ‘Conqueror’, set to be her first release, combines stunning vocals that reach their crescendo at the chorus and a dark synth-pop beat, that contrast distinctly to combine a sound that is part CREEP and part the innocent voice of St. Vincent (although her publicist is trying to say more Fever Ray). The result is a dreamy mix and coupled with typical Swedish good looks, Eli is set to be on your playlist for a while.
Eli says: “The Conqueror might seem like a traditional love song, but I wrote it from seeing people – and being in a situation myself – where you find yourself loving the other person’s love more than being in love. It’s like if you manage to conquer his love and own his heart, at least you’ll be remembered. You’ll always be special to that person.”
