Following the smash hit of ‘Midnight City’, French electronic outfit M83 are back with their second single from one of my favourite albums of 2011, the monster double LP ‘Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming’. ‘Reunion’ is more than a match for the stand out success of the debut single and similarly has a glittering and euphoric nu-disco track on a triumphantly massive scale, with layer-cake vocals and kicked back drum beat that suggests the 80s are well and truly cool again, but remixed.

Anthony Gonzalez is clearly a fan of the era of the shell suit, yo yo and Top Trumps saying; “I’m in love with the sound of the ’80s, I always thought the production then was stunning. It’s very clear and very powerful, with not a lot of elements. Commercial music was better in those days.”

Reunion is set to be on my playlist for a while until its release on 6 February 2012.
