P J Harvey’s latest album, ‘Let England Shake’, takes the prestigious award 10 years after her first triumph, becoming the first artist to win the award twice.

When winning her first Mercury Music Prize ten years ago, it was the day of 9/11, stuck in Washington DC the singer was unable to accept her award. The singer even told the audience of her ordeals, “It’s really good to be here as when I last won 10 years ago on September 11, I was in DC watching the Pentagon burn from my hotel room.”

This time the win must have been just a tad sweeter, beating the likes of Adele, Tinie Tempah, Katy B and the singer who has been mentioned as following in her own steps, Anna Calvi to the gong.

Big congratulations to an amazing singer / songwriter and an album that was so pertenant, all the songs tell of the struggle swith war and bloodshed… in these times, recent wars, rioting, it seemed only fair.
