Marcel Wanders’ design-loving ‘Mermaids’
Dutch designer Marcel Wanders’ most recent art project ‘Mermaids’ will enchant you into water and once immersed, it will take you down to the depths where you swim into his company’s designs, sound like art just to sell furniture, surely not! With mythical, visual manipulation, designer Marcel Wanders captures the vibrancy of the products and invites you to an underwater world – a submerged palace overflowing with allure, innovation and mystery – this will be Moooi‘s London showroom, The White Building, by the way.
On his latest project, Wanders said, “To be submerged into water is to be in a place free from the constraints of gravity, free to explore a multi- dimensional universe. Here, like Atlantis, the world of Moooi is enveloped in water, fit for discovery. I invite you to join the mermaids in this alternative state of being.” The Mermaids welcome you to their underwater kingdom where ‘Raimond’ by Raimond Puts, ‘Miyake’ by Arihiro Miyake, ‘Heracleum’ by Bertjan Pot and ‘Dear Ingo’ by Ron Gilad grace and light up Moooi’s submarine world.
Moooi UK opened the doors to its London showroom at The White Building a year ago where it remains an integral part of The Dock’s design hub. During the London Design Festival the city will again see one of the world’s most creative and successful design brands create a timely impact.
So if taking a trip to London Design Festival this year, make sure you bring the right clothes, seems like a swimming costume might be needed.
Look out for more from London Design Festival very soon…
