Arctic Monkey's secure fourth successive No. 1 with 'Suck It And See'

Arctic Monkeys achieved their fourth successive No. 1 album on Sunday, knocking Lady Gaga into third spot and becoming only the second band to be this successful with British album debuts.

Arctic Monkeys’ success with ‘Suck It And See’ (unfortunately not an ode to Sherbert Dip Daps as I hoped it might be) means they match rock band Keane’s four-album success, the Official Charts Company said on Sunday.

George Michael and Boyzone also had four successive albums enter the charts at No. 1 in their first week on sale, but in each case one of these albums was a greatest hits compilation.

Adele remained at second spot in the charts with ’21’ and Lady Gaga fell to third spot with ‘Born This Way’.

The America’s Got Talent runner-up, 11-year-old Jacki Evancho, became the youngest solo artist to have a UK Top 5 album when her debut album ‘Dream With Me’ reached number 4, according to her promoter Simon Cowell.

Example gets his first ever UK No. 1 Single

On the singles charts, British rapper Example had his first No. 1 with ‘Changed the Way You Kissed Me’, pushing U.S. rapper Pitbull to second place with ‘Give Me Everything’, which also features R&B singer Ne-Yo.

Nicole Scherzinger, lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls and a judge on the U.S. version of The X Factor, rose to number 3 from number 14 on the singles charts with her solo single ‘Right There’.
