Adele has extended her reign at the top of the British album charts to 13 weeks. Her second album, 21, released in January, had already topped the charts for 11 weeks, the longest run for a UK album by a female solo artist, when she was pushed out for a week by the Foo Fighters. But she returned to the top slot two weeks ago.
Just seven weeks after its release, 21 was certified as having gone seven times platinum, with sales in excess of 2.1m copies.
The Foo Fighters release meant Adele just missed out on equalling the record for consecutive weeks at number one, held by Bob Marley and the Wailers for the compilation Legend, which spent 12 weeks at the top of the charts in 1984.

I said to all my girlfriends: ‘Are you feeling a bit gay right now?’” [...]
